"Jewish Culture Fest" was held in Krivoy Rog (Ukraine)

On December 22, the long-awaited event "Jewish Culture Fest" was held in community center "Beit Graham" of Charitable Fund "Hesed Hana".

The idea of this event came to the participants of the teenage club "Be Jewish" at the seminar BizSourse in summer. There, young people won a grant for its implementation. The idea was to introduce teenagers from other national minorities of Ukraine to the Jewish culture. And last Friday we managed to realize our plan. Kravchenko Vanya, Omelchenko Ekaterina, Vlasyuk Alina and Kolotiy Anastasia (as coordinator of the event) have involved madrichim - teenagers Lera Eisenberg and Kolomntsev Egor and organized a wonderful evening for more than 20 guests from the Polish, Azerbaijani, Armenian and Korean communities and 20 participants from our club .

We familiarised participants with the Jewish calendar and holidays through the traditional cuisine of our people. We practiced to dance modern Israeli dances and depicted "the panorama of friendship of our communities". Most of all we wanted to introduce young people to our favourite holiday - Shabbat. After a short information tour, we lit candles and talked about the meaning of Shabbat for the Jewish people. The final chord of a beautiful evening was a cake with the flags of all the national minorities of our city.

"Jewish Culture Fest" – is the first event that united teenagers of different nationalities of our city and we hope that next year we will gather even more participants from more organizations!
